How to Get Emoji Icons on an iPhone: 8 Steps (with Pictures)

Just like adding a keyboard for another language, you can add an Emoji keyboard to your iPhone that allows you to include smilies and other images in your messages.

METHOD 1 OF 2: ON NEWER VERSIONS OF IOS

TAP THE SETTINGS ICON TO LAUNCH THE SETTINGS APP.

TAP ADD NEW KEYBOARD...

TAP EMOJI FROM THE LIST THAT APPEARS.

TAP THE GLOBE BUTTON THAT APPEARS ON YOUR KEYBOARD WHEN USING THE MESSAGES APP TO ACCESS EMOJIS.
METHOD 2 OF 2: ON OLDER IOS VERSIONS

EVEN THOUGH THE EMOJI KEYBOARD IS NOT BUILT INTO OLDER VERSIONS OF IOS, YOU CAN STILL DOWNLOAD VARIOUS APPS FROM THE APP STORE THAT WILL ENABLE EMOJIS FOR YOU.
To find an app, search for "emoji" in the app store.


TIPS
Swipe across the Emoji icons display or use the buttons to select different icon categories.
Not all devices can view or show Emoji icons, so they may appear as strange mixes of punctuation symbols if so.
