4 Ways to Use Skype on an iPhone

Make use of your Skype account for video and voice calls, instant messaging and more, even when you’re not at your computer. All you need is the Skype app for iPhone and an Internet connection and you’re all set.
STEPS

TAP THE SKYPE ICON ON YOUR IPHONE’S HOME SCREEN TO LAUNCH THE SKYPE APP.

TYPE YOUR SKYPE NAME AND PASSWORD INTO THE FIELDS THAT APPEAR. tap the Sign In button.

TAP THE NAME OF A CONTACT. Your contacts are shown with their profile image if they have set one.

TAP ONE OF THE BUTTONS ON THE CONTACT VIEW TO PERFORM A PARTICULAR ACTION SUCH AS VIDEO CALL, VOICE CALL, IM OR SMS.

TAP THE VIDEO CALL BUTTON.

WAIT FOR THE CALL TO CONNECT.

TAP THE RED END CALL BUTTON TO HANG UP. When you are connected to your contact, the buttons that appear allow you to select which camera on your iPhone you want to use, mute the call, set the volume level, or enter IM mode.
METHOD 2 OF 4: TO MAKE A VOICE CALL

WAIT FOR THE CALL TO CONNECT.

FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE INTERFACE. When you are connected, your contact’s profile picture appears on the screen with the duration of the call shown below. The buttons that appear during the call allow you to switch to a video call with the iPad’s front or rear camera, mute the call, turn on speakerphone, or enter IM mode. Tap the red End Call button to hang up.
METHOD 3 OF 4: TO SEND AN INSTANT MESSAGE

TAP THE IM BUTTON.

THE IM INTERFACE NOW APPEARS. Type your message using the software keyboard and tap the Send button.

THE MESSAGE IS SENT TO YOUR CONTACT. Responses to your message will be shown on the same screen.

TYPE YOUR MESSAGE USING THE SOFTWARE KEYBOARD.

TIPS
To call a regular phone number, tap the Call button at the bottom right of the screen, and type the number using the keypad that appears.
Make sure you have a decent connection to the Internet when making video calls or the picture quality may be reduced.
WARNINGS
Video calls use a lot of bandwidth, so if you pay for a mobile data plan you might want to make video calls using Wi-Fi rather than your carrier’s cellular network.
Making calls and sending messages from one Skype account to another is free, but you will be charged for calling regular phone numbers or sending SMS messages from the Skype app.
